Inspired by one of the greatest movies of all time the Deckard boot is one part the past and one part the future and it comes with a dark side. Our first ever completely black out boot could be a better fit or replicant of our Original Deckard Boot.
Based on the the Trench boot last from Chicago Bootmakers, Oak Street.
The Double Black Deckard Boot uses a black waxed flesh upper, a Stormwelt, Black Vibram wedge christy sole and is a 100% custom build for ButterScotch. Each detail of the Deckard boot was carefully selected to meet our exact specifications.
We set out to build the black boot of black boots and it had to be durable as hell.
A brief history lesson on waxed flesh, the military issued soldiers natural leather boots with smooth leather internals and the roughout side of the leather face out to the elements. This was done so that the water, sand, dirt, etc, if it were to get into the boot it could easily be poured out so that walking would not cause blisters. In doing so with the rough-out side exposed to the elements the boot leather was more susceptible and needed to be coated. Heavily waxing the nep of the boot leather makes it water repellant for a more durable longer lasting boot.
Waxed Flesh is more sturdy. durable leather that ages incredible and can always be re-waxed for a fresh start to your favorite pair of boots. After the success of our 93 Vibram Trench Boot, we here at ButterScotch listened to our customers and created a black version to the 93. But lets be clear, we didn't just want to create any black boot, we wanted a more durable and tougher version of a boot that could work no matter you threw at it. After looking at multiple leathers and understanding how each would perform in its day to day, the black waxed flesh was the go-to option. Cost per wear makes the black waxed flesh the longest lasting outer for a boot that will last to 2049 and then add another 20 years to that. Old(ish) technology for boots that will carry you on into the future.
